Emilia and Beghelli, Team Colombia looks to finish in style
The final week of Team Colombia second season is now on: after Thursday’s Coppa Sabatini, the Escarabajos will face the final two races of the year. The team will be in action in Emilia (Italy) at the Giro dell’Emilia (Saturday October 12th) and GP Bruno Beghelli (Sunday 13th).
The Giro dell’Emilia features the usual tough finale on the San Luca climb in Bologna (ramps up to 20% gradient) to be repeated 5 times, while on Sunday, the GP Beghelli will be characterized by classic circuit of Zappolino, to be rounded 10 times. Those will be two more chances to finish off the season in style.
On Saturday, Darwin Atapuma and Fabio Duarte are going to lead the team at the Giro dell’Emilia backed and supported by a strong line-up formed by Alexis Camacho, Robinson Chalapud, Wilson Marentes, Dalivier Ospina, Jarlinson Pantano and Duber Quintero. In Monteveglio, for the GP Beghelli, Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi will rely on fast man Leonardo Duque, should the race come up to a mass finish, but will have a number of options in hand with Fabio Duarte, Jarlinson Pantano, Duber Quintero, Marco Corti, Carlos Julian Quintero, Jeffry Romero and Juan Pablo Valencia.
“The season is getting to a close, and we are looking for a strong final effort from our guys”, DS Tebaldi said. “The Giro dell’Emilia route is suited to strong climbers, Atapuma and Duarte definitely got that characteristics, so hopefully we will see them feature in the finale. GP Beghelli is different, and a selected group finish is how things end up most of the times: Duque would be our man for a sprint, but riders like Duarte and Pantano always have the chance to try something on the Zappolino climb.”
