Ferrari and Pardilla protagonists as team clinch team prize in Madrid

The Caja-Rural Seguros RGA team came close to their second triumph of the season today at the Vuelta Madrid (2.1). From the breakaway of 9 riders which made it to the line, Fabricio Ferrari was the strongest finisher in 5th place, with Sergio Pardilla close behind in 8th place. The sprint for the line was won by Raúl Alarcón (W52).

For his hard work early on the stage, Ferrari also picked up the intermediate sprints jersey with Edu Prades sprinting to 10th place securing the team prize for the Spanish outfit.

Tomorrow will see the riders tackle 148km over less arduous terrain, where the team will be hoping to build on their strong start.

Fabricio Ferrari: “I always seem to be involved in the breakaways and today was no different. We worked well as a team to get someone in the break and as often happens, it was me. The objective for the team here is to get another win. But today at least we got on the podium which is always good, so we’re happy with that.”
