Gazprom – RusVelo is Ready for the Next Italian Autumn Classics

Three highest category Italian classics are approaching for Gazprom – RusVelo. The Russian cycling team is to compete in Giro dell’Emilia on the 30th of September, GP Bruno Beghelli on the 1st and Tre Valli Varesine on the 3rd of October.

A fierce competition is expected this Sunday at Giro dell’Emilia that marks its 100th anniversary edition and plenty of riders will fight to have their names written into the history of Italian classic.

Giro dell’Emilia features one of the hardest mountainous routes of the entire racing calendar. On the first half of 223 kilometres distance riders are to conquer a steep climb Passo Brasimone. On the final 40 kilometres two kilometres long ascent San Luca awaits, which riders are to pass over five times. GP Bruno Beghelli and Tre Valli Varesine have shorter distances of nearly 200 kilometres and milder road courses. Whereas Giro dell’Emilia is for pure climbers, GP Bruno Beghelli and Tre Valli Varesine are for sprinters and craggy specialists.

Gazprom – RusVelo rider Sergey Firsanov strives to demonstrate an impressive performance at Giro dell’Emilia: “Two years ago I finished second at Tre Valli Varesine and this year’s edition features similar route, so, I am set up to fight for the highest places. In the concluding part of racing season you compete with what’s left from your strength. My teammates and I are ready for a fierce competition and we strive to prevail in the remaining races of the season. Nobody thinks that the season is over, besides Il Lombardia is ahead and that will be a crucial race both for our team and for all WT squads.”
