Assicurazioni Generali is to be the “Main Event Partner” at the “Toscana 2013” UCI Road World Championships, from 22 to 29 September 2013. Generali is to take the most prestigious of the partnership profiles offered by the Organising Committee.
One of the world’s leading insurers, the Generali Group has been active in sports for many years, through high-profile partnerships in soccer, motorcycle racing, sailing, golf, skiing and ice hockey. Now, Generali is supporting the most important and eagerly awaited international cycling event: the UCI Road World Championships, to be held for the first time in Tuscany.
“The UCI Road World Championships are one of the top international sports fixtures, being held this year in Italy,” said Generali Group Chief Communication Officer Lucia Sciacca. “We are delighted to be the Main Event Partner of such an important sporting event, followed worldwide by millions of enthusiasts in many of the countries where our Group operates.”
“We are proud that an Italian player of excellence like Generali has decided to associate its brand with our event,” declared Angelo Zomegnan, Chairman of the Organising Committee. “Tuscany has produced many champions in cycling, and we’re sure it will generously provide fans all over the world with a memorable edition.”
The numbers forecast for the 2013 championship confirm cycling’s growing popularity. This is reflected in the organisational effort for television coverage, strictly in HD and to be shown in 160 countries, through links with 250 broadcasters and the contribution of more than 1,500 communication operators.
The Toscana 2013 UCI Road World Championships will also be the first event with routes totalling 1000 kilometres over the 7 race days, and more than 300 transits through Florence’s Piazza Duomo, a place of incomparable beauty and home to priceless works of art.
Around 1,500,000 spectators are expected to turn out, helped by 2,000 volunteers whose contribution will be of inestimable value to the Organising Committee.
