What's Cool In Road Cycling

Giant-Shimano: Halle-Ingooigem (1.1)

This Wednesday sees the final tune up race for the national road race championships, Halle-Ingooigem.
Team Giant-Shimano have experienced success here before when Roy Curvers (NED) won the race in 2011. They line-up this year with no clear favourite but a strong, attacking line-up with also an option for a finishing sprint with Jonas Ahlstrand (SWE) who is able to get a strong result in this situation.

Team Giant-Shimano coach, Addy Engels (NED) said looking ahead: “This race is always difficult to predict given that the nationals are next up. Lots of riders use it as training and so the way the race pans out is different to usual.

“I always tell the guys that it is best to race aggressively here as it’s hard to tell which break will go. We have a good team for that with guys like Dries [Devenyns] and Brian [Bulgac], but then we also have Jonas for a sprint too.

“We don’t have one big favourite for the win here but overall we have a strong team and I am confident we can do something.”
