Girl Bike Love and GT Bicycles Launch Women Ride 4 Change Contest
Today, Girl Bike Love, in partnership with GT Bicycles, launched the Women Ride 4 Change contest to encourage more women to ride bicycles. Women are invited to submit their stories online and to highlight a goal they wish to achieve through cycling. Twelve women across North America will be selected to win a new GT bicycle to use throughout their journeys.
Girl Bike Love and GT’s goal is to inspire women of all riding backgrounds and experience levels through the Women Ride 4 Change contest. Whether a participant’s main goal is for personal growth and development or to support and encourage their local community, Girl Bike Love hopes to draw in a diverse selection of stories that showcase all of the amazing benefits a bicycle can provide.
“We continue to hear stories of women using bicycles as a tool to create change all around the world. This contest will encourage more women to do the same,” said Sarai Snyder, founder of Girl Bike Love. “Bicycles change lives every day. We want to support more women in this endeavor, while having them tell their inspiring stories along the way.”
“For more than 40 years, GT has provided bicycles to help both men and women push the limits of what they can do, no matter their abilities. This contest is no different,” said Tim Inall, Global General Manager for GT. “GT is excited to support a contest that encourages getting more women on bicycles. We want bikes to be valuable in helping them achieve their goals.”
A panel of judges, including GT Bicycles brand representatives, will review each submission. Stories will be judged on entrants’ creativity to use a bike for positive change as well as their ambition to achieve their goal. Of the twelve women selected to share their journey, six will receive a new GT Zaskar mountain bike and six will receive a new GT Grade Alloy Sora road bike. The twelve winners will also receive apparel and gear from SUGOI, Sombrio, Bell Helmets and Knog lights.
“As we continue to advocate to get more women riding bikes and sharing their personal stories of change, we are thrilled to have the support of GT Bicycles to issue this challenge to the women of North America.” said Snyder.
Once selected, winners will be asked to share their stories via social media and on GirlBikeLove.com. In addition, Girl Bike Love will facilitate regular communication among the winners, encouraging them to learn from and support one another.
The Women Ride 4 Change contest is only open to residents in North America (except Quebec) who are of legal age (18 years or older) and begins on March 14, 2016. Submissions will be accepted here: https://girlbikelove.com/?p=8293&preview=true with a deadline of midnight March 31, 2016. Submissions must be in English.
