Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia: Help Haiti Announced as Charity Partner

In the fantastic scenery of the Natisone and Torre valleys, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, the Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia will be held on Sunday 22 May 2016. The course will be almost identical to that which the professional riders will race just two days earlier during the Corsa Rosa. Help Haiti will be the Charity Partner. Entries are open on www.granfondogiroditalia.com with the fee locked until 15 April 2016.

The week from Sunday 15 to Sunday 22 May 2016 will be a great time for cycling in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, and in particular in the wonderful natural scenery of the Natisone and Torre valleys.

It all begins on Sunday 15 May in Pradamano with the 87km sportive ride “Cicloturistica per Haiti – Aspettando il Giro”, which will be followed on Friday 20 May with the 2016 Giro d’Italia stage 13, from Palmanova to Cividale del Friuli – a route of 161km, dedicated to the professional riders and cycling fans.

On Saturday 21 May there will be the opportunity to participate in an open bicycle ride, available to everyone, which visits the local wineries and farmhouses.

To complete the week, on Sunday 22 May comes the Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia with two courses: the long one, at 133km, will be almost entirely the same as the professional riders’ stage with only the first flat 28km section not being included in the sportive. The rest of the course from Cividale del Friuli to Cividale del Friuli will be identical to that raced on the Giro d’Italia stage. The medium route will end after the first passage from Cividale, at 77km, and will face the Montemaggiore and Crai climbs avoiding the Cima Porzus and the Valle climbs.
