What's Cool In Road Cycling

Great success of participants in the III GRanfondo Alberto Contador

Today in Pinto was held the third edition of the Granfondo Alberto Contador, with more than seven hundred riders on the starting line, which is the participation record for this race, which also had a 3 hour Spinning Marathon, held in parallel to the road race.

Alberto Contador, who returned last night from a recognition of the Alpine stages of the next Tour de France, completed the course of 152 km and finished following the winner, Jorge Ramos, coach of the junior team Specialized-Foundation Alberto Contador, who was represented by one of its riders, Miguel Angel Alcaide, the youngest among the participants. As always, the route, despite not having major climbs, became very selective, to the point that on the first passage through Pinto, after 100 km, Alberto Contador and Jorge Ramos got more than 1 minute over their immediate followers.

In the last 50 kilometers they maintained and still increased their advantage, crossing the finish line with Jorge Ramos first and followed by Alberto Contador. After the race, in addition to the awards ceremony, all participants shared the traditional paella that closes this granfondo. Alberto Contador started today after arriving the night before from the recognition of Alpine stages of the Tour de France 2013. He was there with his team mates Jesus Hernandez, Roman Kreuziger, Nicolas Roche and Chris Sorensen and also studied the time trial in Embrun and the finishes in Gap, Le Grand Bornand, Alpe D’Huez and Annecy, although the latter could not be done by bike due to the heavy snow that fell yesterday in the Alps.
