Jan Hirt Solos to the Win in Azerbaijan

The fourth and Queen stage of Le Tour d’Arbaijan saw LEOPARD TREK’s Jan Hirt, as the winner. A wonderful solo victory for the skinny Czech climber of the team.

Sports director Adriano Baffi: “This is a great result, we are very proud to have won the Queen stage of this Tour. Jan rode the perfect race and Sean just did an awesome job for him.”

As a matter of fact Hirt’s team mate Sean de Bie was part of the breakaway of 8 riders that spent most of the day up front. On the second to last climb Jan attacked the field and jumped across to the break. “From there on Sean worked hard to make the gap even larger. They started the last climb with six and Jan just started dropping the other riders bit by bit”, said Baffi

Jan Hirt rode the last 15 kilometers solo and finished with about four minutes to the first chaser, Connor Mc Convey of Baku Cycling. Sport director: “We are obviously very happy with this result, especially after all of our GC ambitions went away when most of the team got stomach troubles before stage 2. The team showed what working together meant. We came here to do a good result and this is very satisfactory.”
