Kerby Grabs First US Podium for Drapac Professional Cycling

Jordan Kerby showcased strong form in today’s Individual Time Trial against a quality field at Stage 3 of the Tour of the Gila. The 24-year old tackled the rolling 26 km course in 24:21 (+:31), taking the first podium for the squad in the US.

“I am happy for Jordan to get team’s first podium of the race today. He rode a quality TT, in regards to pacing and uphill strength. He competed today against guys with a lot more experience on this course so it is good to be close to win,” Sports Director Tom Southam said. “Kerby is in good form and will be am major factor for us in the upcoming races.”
Kerby, know for his team mindset and “full throttle” approach to racing, was pleased with his performance.

“Legs were a bit lag at the start of warmup as yesterday’s stage was really tough. The more I warmed up the legs started to come around. Out of gate legs felt good. I like to go hard at the start so the uphill was good out at the beginning as you can make up time rather quickly, Kerby said. “I focused after that on keeping a good tempo to turnaround. Over the top of the last climb, I just tried to relax and control. I felt good and happy with the result.”

Kerby, possibly one of the most diverse riders in the peloton, quickly regroups this afternoon for tomorrow’s criterium as he is an integral part of the Drapac sprint train.

“Tomorrow, we go for Wouter, so we will organize in our typical manner, get him set up and sorted. He is the fastest guy in this race in my opinion. We are looking to get that stage win.” Kerby said.

Lachlan Norris is sitting 19th in the GC (+2:14). Norris with look toward Sunday’s epic closing stage to move up the GC rankings. Norris was 14th in today’s stage at 35:13.
