Kritsky takes first 2.HC win for RusVelo
RusVelo rider Timofey Kritskiy won stage 7 of the 2.HC Tour of Quinghai Lake. It is actually the very first win for the team in a race of such a high category. The 143 km-long stage course included only one categorized KOM finish, and yet the peloton rode on an extremely demanding altitude between 2000 and 3100 meters. Kritskiy was a part of an escape of the day that formed soon after the start. The gap reached a maximum of eight minutes. With 27 km to go, the Russian rode away from his breakaway companions and finished alone 55 seconds ahead of the Kazakh veteran Andrey Mizurov (RTS-Santic Racing Team). The leader’s jersey remains on the shoulders of Mizurov’s compatriot Ilya Davidenok (Astana Continental Team). The best RusVelo’s rider in the general classification, Kirill Pozdnyakov, keeps his 11th position, just 11 seconds off the top-10.
Renat Kyamidulin, RusVelo team manager:
“It is a very important step forward for the team. A win at a 2.HC race is an impressive line in anyone’s palmares. I am really happy for Timifey, he’s had an unfair share of bad luck and injuries all through his career, and finally things are starting to straighten themselves out”.
