What's Cool In Road Cycling

Ladies Tour of Norway Preview

After a short break, racing continues tomorrow for Bigla Pro Cycling Team in the Ladies Tour of Norway. The race starts on Friday with a warm up criterium, which will be 30 minutes plus five laps.

The criterium is a fan spectacle with times not counting as part of the rest of the stage race. The UCI sanctioned racing gets underway on Saturday with stage one over 114,6 kilometres. The race concludes with stage two on Sunday raced over 115,6 kilometres.

The race sees a return for Doris Schweizer who crashed out of the Giro Rosa with a concussion.

“I’m excited to race again,” Schweizer said. “I am fully recovered from the crash at the Giro and ready to race. I haven’t done Norway or Sweden so they’re new races for me. I am happy to be with the team now and we’ll see how it goes. Everything is a bit different now going to Scandinavia this part of the season. For me, the world’s TT is important so it’s better to go this route and it’s a good thing to just have a new experience and see what happens.”

The same team to race Norway will form part of the squad that will head to Sweden for World Cup action in Crescent Women World Cup Vargarda TTT and Crescent Women World Cup Vargarda road race.

“We’ve done some TTT training and next week we’ll have some more time again. I’ve looked at the profiles in Norway and it looks a little up and down. I haven’t been there so it’s hard to say what it will be like but we have a sprinter in Lotta [Lepistö] and have other options too,” Schweizer concluded.
