What's Cool In Road Cycling

Le Grand Départ of CYCLE TO MIPIM

On Thursday 6th March, sees Le Grand Départ of 98 riders from the property industry who will leave More London at 9am on the CYCLE TO MIPIMcharity bike ride.

There will be a photocall at 8.30am outside City Hall and riders will depart at 9am.

91 men and 8 women will cycle from London to Folkestone and then through the French countryside to arrive in Cannes, 1,500km away, for the start of the MIPIM International Property Fair. They will be met on arrival six days later (Tuesday 11th March) by Sir Edward Lister, Chief of Staff and Deputy Mayor of the Greater London Authority, and Peter Rhodes, Managing Director of Reed Midem UK.

Peter Rhodes had this message of support for the riders, “It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the ninth year of CYCLE TO MIPIM. The MIPIM conference is of course a place of business, and it therefore never fails to amaze me that nearly one hundred delegates choose to make their way to Cannes using pedal power, all in the name of charity. It is a remarkable feat, and a testament to the strength and determination of each cyclist.

“As we celebrate 25 years of MIPIM, we must also celebrate each cyclist’s efforts. It is because of them, and the wonderful team from CYCLE TO…, that over £1.5 million has been raised for some great causes over the years and MIPIM has been the inspiration and part of it. Bonne Chance! We all look forward to greeting you all in six days!”

A photocall with the peloton, Sir Edward Lister and Peter Rhodes will take place on the riders’ arrival into Cannes on Tuesday 11th March. The riders are expected to arrive around 2.30pm but this will depend on riding conditions – please follow @cycle_to_events for the latest on arrival times or look out for the arrival of the big red bus on La Croisette!
