Line up Festival Elsy Jacobs, the Next Stage Race

The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team will head to Luxembourg this weekend for the 3-day Festival Elsy Jacobs stage race. The team enjoyed success in its last stage race in Euskal Emakumeen XXIX Bira with Lotta Lepistö winning the prologue and several of the team members finishing on the podium throughout the stages.

Last year’s Festival Elsy Jacobs proved a successful one for the team, missing out on the overall victory by only two seconds. This year the race will again comprise three stages starting with a prologue on 29 April. Two road stages will follow on Saturday and Sunday.

20-year-old Clara Koppenburg put in an impressive performance in Bira, finishing 15th overall while helping the team leaders in the race. She was 10th in the prologue, continuing to show great development in the race against the clock.

“I’m really looking forward to racing again. Last weekend was my first weekend without racing and it’s felt like ages,” she said.

“For sure I’m excited about the prologue on Friday because normally I’m good in that. This time it’s quite long for a prologue so I have to think about how I will divide it up but I think at the end you don’t have a choice because you have to go all out anyway if you want a good result, and that’s what I want.”

Koppenburg continued: “The following two days are also important and I think that we will show a great team performance. In Flèche Wallonne we were not in full strength because Lotta, Ash [Moolman-Pasio] and me we were all sick but we recovered good and we’re ready to fight again and after Bira we’re all hungry for success.”
