Lotto Belisol: Injury for Frederik Willems after crash in Vattenfall Cyclassics

Last Sunday Frederik Willems crashed in the Vattenfall Cyclassics after the third ascent of the Waseberg. The Lotto Belisol-rider abandoned, but could get to the team bus on his own. Afterwards Willems was in pain and went to the hospital of Herentals for a scan. The dorsal vertebra D9, close to the ninth rib, got dented in the crash.

The next two weeks Willems can’t ride the bike and should take complete rest. He will be out of competition for several weeks, so it’s unclear if he’s still going to race this season.
