Lotto Belisol: Minor surgery for Tim Wellens
Yesterday Tim Wellens had some minor surgery on his left knee. Tests had shown the 22-year-old rider had a thick synovial plica, a congenital fold in the mucous membrane of the knee. The fold, which gave friction to the bone of the knee during cycling, was successfully removed yesterday in the hospital of Herentals by doctor Toon Claes.
After five days Wellens can resume the fitness exercises , so the inactivity will be limited. His preparation for 2014 isn’t in any danger.
