Max Walscheild Announced as Stagiare for Giant-Alpecin

Team Giant-Alpecin is pleased to announce that Max Walscheid (GER) will be joining the team as a stagiaire as of August 1. The 22-year-old Walscheid, currently with Team Kuota-Lotto, demonstrated his strengths in the sprint by winning the German U23 championships last year and also excels in U23 time trials.

Walscheid also had a strong showing at the Tour de Berlin in May as runner-up in the time trial and winning the fourth stage, combining to give him second place in the final GC.

“In Walscheid we see a talented young rider with a strong sprint but also the potential to develop towards the classics races. We are pleased to give Walscheid, a young German rider as the next generation of talents, the opportunity to develop himself and offer him the next step in his career during this period. We look forward to welcoming him in the team and getting to know him better,” said Team Giant-Alpecin coach Rudi Kemna (NED).

Walscheid said of the opportunity: “I’m very proud and happy to get the possibility to show my ability as a rider and as a person in Team Giant-Alpecin in the upcoming period. It is a big chance for me and I’m absolutely motivated to show what I can do as I can’t wait to race for the team and – hopefully – to show, that everybody who believed in me was right.”
