What's Cool In Road Cycling

Parrinello 4th at the Trofeo Matteotti

Another good performance by Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia
After the brilliant results obtained recently in races ridden between France, Slovenia and Romania, Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia? has been confirmed as a team to watch, even on the Italian roads of the Trofeo Matteotti?? that took place on Sunday, July 19th.

At the finish line in Pescara, Antonio Parrinello closed out the bunch sprint in 4th place, bringing a prestigious placement to the young Italian continental team led by team manager Ivan De Paolis. Russian Evgeny Shalunov (Lokosphinx) won the race by taking off about 7 km out from the finish line, with a nice progression that left everyone else behind to jostle it out in the bunch sprint, where Parrinello just missed making it to the podium.

“The results we are obtaining are the outcome of the hard work of the entire team,” explains Ds Massimo Codol. “Race after race everyone is maturing and growing. Even yesterday at the Matteotti, in the final, when the race heated up and forty or so riders were left, we were right there with four guys: Parrinello, Ciavatta, Giorni and Brogi”.

“Last week we held a training camp at Rocca di Cambio (L’Aquila), at the Hotel Aurora Resort. In this town in the Apennines we found perfect training conditions, with challenging climbs and long false plains at high altitudes. I’m certain that the work we did will come in useful for our transfer to the Vuelta a Colombia (2-15 August), where it means a lot to us to make a good impression, like we did last year,” concludes Ds Codol.

“In the team there is a really nice atmosphere. We are a close knit group where the more experienced elements, like myself and Paolo Ciavatta, in addition to doing our jobs, we try to contribute to helping the younger riders grow,” says Antonio Parrinello. “This season is giving me great convictions and new motivation. I’m in good form and I’m happy with the results obtained but I absolutely want to score a victory soon, for me and for the entire team, we deserve it.”
