Preview: Tour de Suisse
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka hope to win stages and tweak Tour form in Switzerland
The Tour de Suisse is the next World Tour event on our calendar with the 9 stage race getting underway on Saturday 11 June. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will start with a dynamic group of riders, with Kanstantsin Siutsou leading our chargers.
The Tour de Suisse is the final World Tour event before the Tour de France and so for many riders, it is a key event. The same can be said for our Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka riders as a number of them will look to fine tune their form ahead of a possible Tour de France start while others go in search of an elusive World Tour stage victory.
Kanstantsin Siutsou returns to action after his top 10 overall result at the recent Giro d’Italia and he is hoping his good form in Italy has been carried over into Switzerland. Natnael Berhane will also be one of our key riders at the Swiss race with a number of the stages suiting his capabilities. The rest of our African Team for the Tour de Suisse will be made up by Tyler Farrar, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Jay Thomson, Adrien Niyonshuti, Matt Brammeier and Merhawi Kudus.
With 2 time trials, 4 medium mountain stages and 3 mountain stages that all end with a summit finish, the 2016 Tour de Suisse will be an exciting race and only a worthy winner will reign triumphant come Sunday 19 June.
Natnael Berhane – Rider
I am looking forward to the Tour de Suisse. I have just come back from a good training period in Eritrea so I hope I can test my form on a few stages at Tour de Suisse. It is a World Tour race so the level will be high but I think we have a good chance to achieve some good results with our team at this race. After Suisse my goal is to go to the Tour, this race will help get me to another good level so I can achieve my goal.
