Reis storms home for 2nd in Portuguese TT Championships

Rafael Reis claimed his best result of the season today when he finished 2nd in the Portuguese National time-trial championships in Santa Maria Da Feira. The 24-year old covered the 33km course in 42.24, just five seconds behind race winner Domingos Congalves. Sergio Paulinho rounded – out the podium in 3rd place.

There was success for the Caja-Rural Seguros RGA development team also with Madrid-born sensation Gonzalo Serrano winning the Elite amateur event.

The teams national championships campaign will resume on Sunday where the team will have riders in action in the road races in Spain, USA, Switzerland and Portugal.

Rafael Reis: “I felt really good today and the podium was always the goal. I really gave it everything in the last part but Congalves was just that bit stronger in the end so he deserves the victory.”
