Richeze 2nd in the sprinters battle in Tokyo

Team LAMPRE-MERIDA would have liked to complete its participation in Tour of Japan winning the final stage in Tokyo, but Japanese sprinter Nishitani forced blue-fuchsia-green team to give up its plans.

Richeze, who was the captain of LAMPRE-MERIDA for the stage, performed a good sprint, pedaling on his Merida bike at 73 km/h, but it was not enough: Nishitani overtook him in the final meters and he preceded the Argentinian cyclist for few centimeters (www.toj.co.jp/2013)

These are Richeze’s words: “I’m sorry I could not complete a positive week for LAMPRE-MERIDA with a victory that has not been obtained for few centimeters.
I thanks my team mates that worked for me today, I think I performed a good sprint, at full speed, but I could not avoid that Nishitani pedalled on my stream and that he overtook me in the final meters”.

In the team balance in Japan, the victory by Richeze in the opening Criterium, two second places (Richeze and Favilli), one third places (Richeze) and the jersey of best climber of Viganò.
