Riis Cycling strengthen its organization
Riis Cycling, the company behind the World Tour team, Team Saxo-Tinkoff, strengthen its organization.
Gawie Nienaber has joined the board of directors of Group Riis and is due to serve as Chairman of the Board of the companies in the Group, including Riis Cycling.
Andreas Hansen has joined Riis Cycling as our Commercial Director.
“I’m happy to be able to announce that Gawie Nienaber will be joining our board as the Chairman, and that Andreas Hansen will take up the role as our Commercial Director. With Gawie and Andreas on board I believe we have added significant strength to our organization, and this will help us bring our business to a new level,” team owner Bjarne Riis said.
Gawie Nienaber brings extensive business and legal experience to the group and has prior involvement with the sponsorship of a professional cycling team. He previously was the chief lawyer in Europe of CSC, the multinational IT services company, which sponsored the team from 2001 until 2008. He worked for CSC between 1993 and 2012.
Gawie Nienaber currently works as a lawyer in England. He has also worked as a lawyer in the USA and has law degrees from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Oxford University and Harvard Law School.
“During the Spring I’ve been working with Bjarne and his executive team to discuss his ideas for the future. I’m excited to be involved in helping set and execute the strategy. I have known Bjarne for a long time and have huge respect for what he has done in cycling, and I look forward to working with him and everyone else to deliver on the great potential we have to do more with the business and the team,” Nienaber said.
As our Commercial Director Andreas Hansen will be involved in business development, our sponsorships and marketing.
He is a former Head of Marketing at PlayStation and has a background in the Advertising and Marketing business having previously worked with a number of different add agencies with a primary focus on sales, product development, strategy and execution of creativity. Before joining Riis Cycling, he served as the Client Service Director in one of Denmark’s biggest advertising agencies, Hjaltelin Stahl.
“I really look forward to bring my core competencies in play at Riis Cycling to help further develop the brand and the business to a new standard,” he said.
