Russell Downing Wins British National Circuit Race Championships

Team NetApp-Endura’s Russ Downing made a rare UK racing appearance for the British National Circuit Race Championships in York on Sunday evening. Riders from a number of teams made attempts to break clear of the peloton in front of the huge crowds that lined the historic city’s streets, but no meaningful break formed.

As the race entered its closing stages, the race look destinted for a sprint finish and the sprinters duly performed, with Yorkshireman Downing taking the sprint from Graham Briggs (Team Raleigh) and Ian Wilkinson (Team UK Youth) in the shadow of York Minster.
