What's Cool In Road Cycling

RusVelo team for Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali

RusVelo team comes to the popular Italian stage race with a strong line-up. Ivan Balykin, Artur Ershov, Sergey Firsanov, Sergey Klimov, Sergey Lagutin, Artem Ovechkin, Kirill Pozdnyakov and Sergey Pomoshnikov will have an early morning start in the first half of stage one. And they really set their sights on the second half.

Sergey Honchar, team DS, had this to say:
“I know this race very well, having done it myself as a rider no less than six times; frankly speaking I lost the count of my participations in it. I’d call it a beautiful race that has it all and makes a rider bring out the best in him. The organizers keep experimenting with the format to make the race even more unpredictable and entertaining for the fans. Take the TTT as an example: every team is broken down in two squads of four. So you have to look for a balance between trying to place high in this event and giving your GC contender the best possible time; thus he is to ride with really fast time trialists but they are to take care not to get him dropped. Sergey Firsanov is our captain here, he had a short but productive training camp and rode a couple of one-day races in the North to find the necessary turn of speed. There is another decider on Friday, with a steep hill to be climbed no less than five times. The weather forecast is anything but optimistic, torrential rain combined with twisty descents will add insult to injury. There will be no naming the winner in advance, with an extremely tricky time trial kept in store for the final day.”
