What's Cool In Road Cycling

Second year of success as NSPCC Tour of England continues to grow

Three tours, six days, over 250 riders, and comprehensive support putting the riders at the heart of the action made the 2015 NSPCC Tour of England series a huge success.

This year saw the series grow from two tours to three with the stunning backdrop of the Cotswolds bringing another weekend of spectacular routes and testing terrain. The series also revisited cycling hotspots, the Surrey Hills and Yorkshire Dales, with comprehensive support on and off the road, seeded pelotons, and timed sections leaving every rider with a huge sense of achievement and great memories of their experience.

“I’m really pleased about how this year’s series has gone,” said Ride2Raise Director, Richard King as he looked back at the three tours. “We took on board feedback from riders last year and this helped us to tweak different aspects of the events, and added a new tour to reach out to more riders and cover a stunning area of the UK.

“We were fortunate to have some great weather over the tours, making the already brilliant routes even better. I want to thank all of the sponsors and partners involved but also the riders for their enthusiasm and effort, and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2016.”

In total over 465 miles were covered, taking in more than 28,500ft of climbing across the three events with riders supported every metre by ride leaders, domestiques, support cars and motor cycle outriders. The pelotons were formed from both self-funded riders as well as those pushing their limits to raise money for the NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity.

As well as a new tour, there were also new sponsors on board, including international nutrition brand High5 and Škoda, while others returned for a second year with the series including 9bar, Dr Bike by The CTC, Just Pedal, motive8, FBR Taxis and Ginger & French.
