What's Cool In Road Cycling

Seizing opportunities in the Skoda Tour of Luxembourg

For Team Blanco Pro Cycling, the Skoda Tour of Luxembourg is all about seizing opportunities. This battle cry is not just in terms of stage wins but also for a few men who have not yet punched a ticket to the Tour de France.

Frans Maassen will share duties with Michiel Elijzen as Sports Director and stated, “A few of the guys still have a shot at the Tour. They’ll get their chance to prove themselves in Luxembourg. What better way to do that, than a stage win? We do not have an ordained lead man so daily success is a primary goal for us.”

Maarten Tjallingii
Maarten Tjallingii is one of the riders who hopes to confirm a place in the Tour. “Following the Giro, I took my rest. I really needed that because I was sick in the last week and a half. Thereafter, I worked on getting my condition back up to snuff and now have a stepping stone to the Dutch Championship and the Tour de France to dot the i’s. A stage win would be really splendid for us.”

Robert Gesink
Moreover, the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg will see the re-entry of Robert Gesink. Like Tjallingii, the rider from Varsseveld was last active in the Giro d’Italia and will make his preparations for the Tour in the Grand Duchy.

Team line-up: Robert Gesink, Moreno Hofland, Paul Martens, Laurens ten Dam, David Tanner, Maarten Tjallingii, Dennis van Winden and Maarten Wynants – Sport Directors: Michiel Elijzen and Frans Maassen
