Selective race, Favilli is 13th in Minami Shinshu
The 3rd stage of Tour of Japan (Minami Shinshu, 148 km) changed the overall classification.
The 12 laps of the selective circuit and the high pace of the bunch forced many riders to reach the arrival out of the time limit. Only 70 cyclists (all LAMPRE-MERIDA ones) could complete the stage in time.
Davide Viganò escaped from the bunch far away and, in a group of attackers, led the race for almost 100 km.
When the breakaway was neutralized, Favilli (photo archive Bettini) attacked with 4 riders, but the bunch joined them in view of the final lap.
On the arrival, Favilli was the best blue-fuchsia-green, obtaining the 13th position.
In the overall classification Favilli is 14th, 3’52” to the new leader Arredondo.
