Sidi Scores a Triple at the Giro Dell’Emilia
Esteban Chaves 1st, Romain Bardet 2nd and Rigoberto Uran 3rd.
Whether it’s a great tour or a one day classic, the song remains the same. The major players are always the formidable champions from the great Sidi team. On Saturday, September 24th, at the Giro dell’Emilia, one of the most beautiful races in the end of the season on both the Italian calendar and the international scene, Sidi scored a magnificent triple.
Following tradition the finish line was located at the top of the gruelling climb on San Luca, which overlooks Bologna. It was Colombian Esteban Chaves (Orica-BikeExchange) who came in first to win the race. This year the greater public has come to love and appreciate this young Colombian for his strength, friendliness and humility, first in the Giro d’Italia and then in the Vuelta Espana. Remember, Chaves was second on the final podium in the Giro d’Italia and third in the Vuelta Espana. This is proof that when the race gets tough and the road starts to rise, Chaves is up to the challenge.
Rounding out the Sidi triple we find Frenchman Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale) in second place. He was already second this year in the Tour de France. In third place was another Colombian, Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale-Drapac). This is a fantastic result that brings tremendous satisfaction to Sidi, which is also one of the historical sponsors of the Giro dell’Emilia.
The great cycling spectacle continues this week with the race of the Lombardia on Saturday, October 1st. This will be the last great classic of the season. It’s another prestigious goal where Sidi is eager to make their mark with their champions.
