What's Cool In Road Cycling

Sidi Sport at La Vuelta. The 1st Part: So Far So Good

The goal is to win la roja…

Sidi Sport has been a major player on the roads of the 2015 Vuelta Espana. The first week of this Spanish stage race saw riders from the Sidi stables shining on several occasions. As always, they were wearing their inseparable Ergo 3 Carbon shoes. Sidi was wearing the red leader’s jersey from day one, with Slovak Peter Velits and his victory with team BMC Racing in the opening team time trial in Marbella.

Victory continued for the Sidi house on the second day, with “la roja” passing to the shoulders of Esteban Chaves (Orica GreenEdge), who was the winner on the finish line at Caminito del Rey, scoring the stage and the jersey. The Colombian then went on to win the 6th stage with the uphill arrival on Sierra de Cazorla, wearing the leader’s jersey for a total of 7 days before ceding again to Dutchman Tom Dumoulin, after the 9th stage featuring a climbing arrival on Cumbre del Sol, Benitachell. However, Esteban Chaves continues to wear the green jersey for the special points’ classification.

If you consider the general classification, Sidi can continue smiling, because after this first part of the Vuelta Purito Rodriguez (Katusha) is in second place; Esteban Chaves is hanging on in third, and Irishman Nicolas Roche (Team Sky) is fourth. Furthermore, everyone should be looking out for Chris Froome (Team Sky). In fact, once the roads started to get seriously steep, the King of the 2015 Tour stood out immediately, demonstrating that he is here to win. The final classification is still wide open; this is a Vuelta that promises great thrills…clearly scored by Sidi Sport!
