Sidi’s “La Manita” in Argentina…
Vuelta a San Juan: 5 victories bear the Sidi signature.
Fernando Gaviria and Max Richeze scored a double; they were joined by Ramunas Navardauskas and his winning touchdown in the time trial. This is not about a football score, but the prizes that Sidi riders are bringing home from their experience at the Vuelta a San Juan, the short stage race that took place in Argentina from January 22nd to the 29th. The major events are still to come, but in the meantime there couldn’t have been a better start to the road racing season for the Sidi “team”.
At the Vuelta a San Juan it was Colombian Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) who got things started, winning the inaugural stage and then helping himself to seconds in the fourth fraction. Meanwhile, in between, the Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team scored an historic first victory with Lithuanian Ramunas Navardauska, who won the third stage, an 11.9 km time trial. Finally, Argentina’s own Max Richeze (Quick-Step Floors) pulled off the impressive feat of winning two times in a row on his hometown roads, capturing the last two stages. These five splendid victories all bear the Sidi brand; yes, because these champions were all wearing Shot, the new model from the 2017 road collection. This innovative shoe is even lighter and more performing, and it turned out to be a winner right off the bat.
