Team Colombia explores new horizons; Escarabajos at San Luis and Langkawi
Team Colombia’s third season in the pro ranks will start outside Europe for the first time in the team’s history. Claudio Corti’s guys will debut at the Tour de San Luis (January 19th – 26th), in Argentina.
The stage race has experienced a consistent rise over the last few years, and has proved an ideal springboard for a number of World Tour and Professional Continental outfits, looking to tune up their preparation for the early European appointments.
2014 will also see the Escarabajos made their debut in Asia, when they will make their first appearance at the Tour de Langkawi (February 27th – March 8th), in Malaysia. The Asian stage race will feature a very demanding route in the upcoming edition, giving Team Colombia a valuable chance to put some good kilometres in their legs ahead of the most important races of the first half of the season.
Two new destinations, Argentina and Malaysia, set to bring Claudio Corti’s project to explore new horizons, giving the “Marca Colombia” an even bigger global exposure.
“Compared to last year, we had the opportunity to plan our season start in Argentina – General Manager Claudio Corti stated – where we should find the ideal conditions to get things started. Over the last few years, both San Luis and Langkawi experienced a big rise in participation and overall quality, and we are very glad to make our debut in such races, giving us the opportunity to bring our projects in different areas set to acquire a bigger role in World cycling in the future.”
