Team Colombia looking for confirmation at Trofeo Laigueglia

After reporting back from Tour Mediterraneen with the red King of the Mountains jersey earned by Jarlinson Pantano, Team Colombia’s Escarabajos will take another important test in Italy on Friday, February 21st, at the 51st Trofeo Laigueglia.

The early-season Italian race underwent changes in the route due to the landslides recently happened by the Ligurian coast. The new course consists in 2 circuits: the first includes 2 ascents, Passo Balestrino and Cima Paravenna, while the second is punctuated by 3 climbs, Colla Micheri, Testico and again the Cima Paravenna ascent, providing a final chance for those who wish to avoid a small-group finish.

Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi will rely on an 8-man line-up, featuring several riders who raced at Tour Mediterraneen last week: in addition to Jarlinson Pantano, Leonardo Duque, Robinson Chalapud, Juan Pablo Valencia and Carlos Julian Quintero, the team will feature Duber Quintero, Jeffry Romero and Miguel Angel Rubiano, who finished 2nd in Laigueglia 2 years ago.

Valerio Tebaldi expects another good display from his team: “The guys reported good feelings from France. On this route, Pantano and Rubiano can perform well in case of a selective race, while Duque would be our main plan in case of a small-group sprint. We know these roads pretty well, and we feel we got a good number of options to choose from”.
