Team Named for Guangxi to Conclude 2017 Season

Caja Rural – Seguros RGA has named their team to take on the Tour of Guangxi (19-24 Oct) with a balance of youth and experience in the selection.

Edu Prades comes into the race after two top-10 results in the Tour of Turkey last week and will be keen to prove himself against the World Tour teams. While Basque rider Jonathan Lastra will also be hoping to continue the form he showed during the Italian classic races in September.

Jonathan Lastra: “I’m going to the Tour of Guangxi looking for a result in what as been a strong end-of-season for me. The fact that it is World Tour always gives you that extra bit of motivation . The idea for he team in this kind of race will be to be aggressive and get in the breakaways. Personally I will aim to fight for a jersey as I did in the Tour of the Basque Country.”

The race will be new territory for the team and indeed for everyone as the race is in its maiden year haven taken over from the now defunct Tour of Beijing. The six stages will take in the picturesque scenery of the Guangxi region.

Jose Miguel Fernandez (Director Sportif): “Every year we are expanding our calendar with more and more World Tour races and to include this race in our calendar is a good experience for our riders to expose them to a very high level of racing.”

The event will also play host to the UCI World Gala to mark the events conclusion and both this event and the race will be televised across Europe on Eurosport.
