What's Cool In Road Cycling

The 7th Val Di Fassa Bike with Volvo Car Italia

It’s a date Sunday, September 14th, 2014, in Moena (TN).

The 2014 edition of Val di Fassa Bike, scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, in Moena, will be able to count on the support of a partner that favours Val Di Fassa in its winter events as much as in summer: Volvo Car Italia.

This great news coincides with Val di Fassa Events a.s.d taking over the organization machine of this mountain bike sports event, which this year will also be valid as a test in the UCI MTB Marathon World Series, the World Cup in Mountain Bike Marathon events.

“We’re very proud of this partnership” says Riccardo Franceschetti, President of Val di Fassa Events a.s.d. “This is a great opportunity to fine tune some improvements in logistics and services for the athletes, as well as to increase the level of an event that’s unique of its kind, providing more exposure, even on an international level.”

“After the success achieved during the winter season by the Volvo Cross Country Camp held in Campitello di Fassa,” says Michele Crisci, President and CEO for Volvo Car Italia, “it’s nice to get together again against the splendid background of the Val di Fassa for a sports event with great, spectacular tradition.”

On the race front, the routes will remain the same, as they are the pride and joy of the Val di Fassa Bike-Volvo Cup: the Marathon for top bikers is 64.2 km and has an altitude change of 2,760 m, the Classic is 49 km with 2106 m/altitude change, and the more simple Short will cover 33.4 km with 957 metres of altitude difference. The first two routes feature many obstacles, like the gruelling climb on Alpe di Lusia, 1060 metres of altitude change in just 8 km, with the GPM placed at an altitude of 2206 m above sea level, while the Short race is open to anyone, amateurs and tourists, who wish to spend a pleasant Sunday in the company of other two-wheel fans without having to worry about the constraints of a limited time frame.

Registrations for the 2014 Val di Fassa Bike are already open at www.valdifassabike.it and in order to accommodate the athletes the organizers have maintained the same fees as last year’s edition: € 30 (marathon and classic) and € 25 (short) both for pro competitors and tourists. The registration fees include a race package, mechanical and medical/healthcare assistance, feedings during the race, final refreshments, lunch party at the arrival, changing rooms and showers, bike wash and prizes.
