The Escarabajos at work on “Il Lombardia” route
Long-distance training for Team Colombia on Saturday September 14th, when all the athletes, followed by Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi, rode on a very famous route for cycling fans. In fact, the Escarabajos trained for over 7 hours on the route of “Il Lombardia”, the final Monument classic of the season and the last World Tour fixture of the year for Claudio Corti’s team, scheduled on Sunday, October 6th.
After taking part to 2012 edition of the “Classic of the Dead Leaves”, characterized by heavy rain, the Escarabajos enjoyed a sunny day to review the key points of the RCS Sport race, and particularly the dreadful Muro di Sormano.
“It was very important to review the route – Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi explained -, as last year the terrible weather affected the whole race, and riding those routes in ideal condition was very useful, even for those who already rode il Lombardia in the past.”
“It was a very good training, with strong intensity: as usual, the perspective of a prestigious race like Il Lombardia gives riders a special motivation. In particulary, Darwin Atapuma looks ecstatic after being selected for the Worlds, and Fabio Duarte and Robinson Chalapud looked very concentrated as well,” Tebaldi stated.
Team Colombia’s next fixture is scheduled on next Saturday, September 21st, in Italy, at GP Costa degli Etruschi.
