To perform and prepare in Tour of Alberta

For the Belkin Pro Cycling Team, it is mainly about performing and partly about preparing in the Tour of Alberta. In the Canadian stage race starting Tuesday, the sprinters will have their chance, while Robert Gesink and Tom-Jelte Slagter will ready themselves for the upcoming Canadian one-day events.

“The Tour of Alberta is a true sprinters race. The only real hard stage is cancelled due to a flooding,” explained Sports Director Frans Maassen. “Mark Renshaw will get his chance this week, although we’ll have to wait and see how he feels. Depending on the type of finish, we can also play the cards for Moreno Hofland, Tom-Jelte Slagter or Dennis van Winden.”

With the Grand Prix Cicliste de Québec and the Grand Prix de Montreal Cicliste approaching, it is key that some guys dot the Is, added Maassen. “Those two races are important for our team as well. Robert Gesink and Tom-Jelte Slagter did well in the past and are looking to do well again this year.”

The first edition of the Tour of Alberta ends on Sunday, September 8. The GP Quebec and GP Montreal run September 13 and 15.
