Training Camp in Bormio for Area Zero D’Amico
The team will be at the QC Terme Bagni di Bormio resort from June 7 to 13
From June 7 to 13, Area Zero D’Amico will hold a training camp in Bormio (Sondrio) in Alta Valtellina. The young all-Italian continental team directed by Ivan de Paolis and Andrea Tonti will be based at the QC Terme Bagni di Bormio resort, which is also one of the Area Zero D’Amico sponsors.
“We are entering the main part of the season. In June and July we have many races, and this training camp will be an important opportunity to train, plan and look forward to the upcoming races,” explained team manager Andrea Tonti. “QC Terme Bagni di Bormio, which is one of our key partners, offers us the ideal location where we can work hard without distraction. The riders will be able to train in the valleys and test themselves on the climbs in the area, and also to recharge their batteries at the spa facilities that are available to us.”
It is a location that offers the ideal solution for those who need to train, but also for those who want to take a cycling vacation. Bike Division, an Italian tour operator that specializes in cycling vacations, together with Area Zero D’Amico and QC Terme Bagni di Bormio, offers a special “Pro Cycling Experience” package – for a vacation where cycling plays a starring role. The offer includes hotel accommodations at the QC Terme spa during the Area Zero D’Amico training camp. The participants, in addition to enjoying the vacation, will thus have the exclusive opportunity to ride side by side with the members of the team and test themselves with the pro riders while immersed in the magical setting of the Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio. In addition to the June 7 to 13 training camp, another training camp is scheduled for July 13 to 18. All the riders of Area Zero D’Amico except Giovanni Carboni, who is taking his final exams, will participate in the training camp from June 7 to 13, guided by sports director Massimo Codol and athletic trainer Paolo Santello.
“It’s a good time for the team. The riders are doing well, and last week we got the first victory with Pasqualon in Austria,” explained Codol. “Saturday our Giovanni Carboni will participate in the Under-23 Italian national time trial championships in Povegliano (province of Treviso). Giovanni deserves our attention and trust; he reached the very highest level among the juniors, and he is the youngest Italian professional. He is showing significant improvement in the time trial, assisted by our team and also by the national team. Then we will join the training camp to prepare for the next important races, which will be the Tour de Slovénie from June 19 to 22, the Giro dell’Appennino on June 24, and the Italian championships in Cles, on the roads of the Trofeo Melinda, on Saturday, June 28.”
