What's Cool In Road Cycling

Two Medals in the European U23 ITT Championships

Three Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling members got the European Road Cycling Championships off to a great start. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Denmark) and Lisa Klein (Germany) won the silver and bronze medals, respectively. They were followed closely by Clara Koppenburg (Germany) in fourth.

As a team passionate about young rider development, the result is a great start to the championships. The time trial was raced over 31,5km with Uttrup Ludwig missing the gold medal by just four seconds.

“This is a great result because it’s a flat course which doesn’t really suit me,” Uttrup Ludwig said. “But being at home and racing in Danish colours, there is great support and people cheering you on and it feels like it just pushes you forward. This is a big result for me and I am overwhelmed by how this season has gone. If you asked me in the beginning of the year about the season, I could not have dreamt that things would go so well.”

German road race champion Klein repeated her bronze medal from last year. “I was hoping for more but it was a good run. I had higher watts compared to my last time trial in the German nationals and made a jump up from then to now and that makes me happy. I’m a little sad about bronze, I was hoping for more but I gave it everything.”

Lotta Lepistö (Finland) and Nicole Hanselmann (Switzerland) will line up in the elite time trial tomorrow.
