What's Cool In Road Cycling

UCI World Championships Individual Time Trial

On September 19, Team Sunweb’s women’s program will line-up at the individual time trial championships riding for their national teams. The course features a 21.1 kilometre circuit, inclusive of a 1.5 kilometre climb with peaks of 16 percent gradient, which will be decisive. The day after, on September 20, it’s the men’s turn to compete. Their course is 31 kilometres in length with the final 3.4 kilometres up Mount Fløyen, a climb with an average of 9.1 percent.

Team Sunweb coach Adriaan Helmantel (NED) said: “We have riders like Ellen and Tom who are both considered pre-race favourites for this course, with the parcours suited to their strengths. Wilco showed at the Vuelta that he is in great shape, and after spending some time in Bergen earlier this year Ellen is familiar with the course after doing extensive recons. Juliette is an up-and-coming talent who we are certain will shine and take a lot of experience here. Nikias is in top shape after a stellar season playing a part in the team’s Tour de France successes, as well as a strong result in the time trial there himself. After a good preparation period we are confident in our ability and our riders are motivated to perform here.”
