What's Cool In Road Cycling

Van Vleuten Second in Elsy Jacobs Prologue

Annemiek van Vleuten got the Bigla Pro Cycling Team’s Luxembourg campaign off to a good start when she placed second in Elsy Jacobs on Friday. The Dutch Time Trial Champion narrowly missed out on victory, trailing Anna van der Breggen by two seconds (Rabo-Liv).

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio also featured for the team finishing seventh, 13 seconds behind the winner. The prologue took place over 5.6 kilometres and the riders expressed how happy they were with the performance of their brand new Cervélo P3’s on the course.

Stage 2 will be negotiated over 102,6 km and will comprise 53,6km open road section before a 9,8km finishing circuit that will be ridden five times.

Annemiek van Vleuten
I have mixed feelings because you always want to win of course. I felt good today and I’m happy because it was my first time on the time trial bike this season. I know now where I need to improve. The ride wasn’t perfect but it was good and if I look back, I probably know where I could have gained the two seconds on the course, but I’m happy. Ashleigh did well too so it will be good that we have options the next few days.
