Wanty-Groupe Gobert to BinckBank Tour

Van Keirsbulck hunting for new stage win.

Wanty-Groupe Gobert heads to Breda on Monday for the start of BinckBank Tour (07-13/08, 2.WT), the successor of the former Eneco Tour, with eight riders. Sports director Hilaire Van der Schueren calls up four riders from the Tour de France and four fresh riders. The selection consists of Frederik Backaert, Kenny Dehaes, Wesley Kreder, Mark McNally, Xandro Meurisse, Dion Smith, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Pieter Vanspeybrouck. In his last participation in 2014, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck managed to win the final stage to Sittard-Geleen. Two weeks after the end of his first participation in the Tour de France, the 26-year-old Belgian rider looks forward.

Guillaume Van Keirsbulck: “I feel quite well recovered from the Tour de France. Last week I rode four criteriums to stay active. Sometimes I had to dig deep so I did not want to overload my program. Recovering from the Tour of France cannot be underestimated.”

“On Saturday I am riding Dwars door het Hageland for the first time and afterwards I want to try to win a stage in again in BinckBank Tour. I’m looking forward to it, but I do not have a specific stage in sight yet. The general ranking? An Ardennes stage can sometimes be compared to a flat stage in the Tour. We will see. I also expect something of my team-mates Frederik Backaert and Pieter Vanspeybrouck, who performed well in the Tour of France.”

“The competition in the Tour is the highest there is. The participation field in the BinckBank Tour is also strong, but nothing can be compared to the Tour. The weather forecast? I don’t bother too much. I like to ride in the rain, so that will not stop me.”
