Wippert Claims Victory Again in Stage 3 Tour de Taiwan

With a brilliant team effort, Wouter Wippert took another stage win at Tour de Taiwan. The foursome of Darren Lapthorne, Travis Meyer, Bernard Sulzberger and Wippert combined forces to assess the race tactics and demonstrated the cohesive efforts of Drapac.

“Our boys did a great job today. They were patient and let the GC teams control the race until the last 20km. When the break got down to about a minute, we put a few guys out front to close the final gap. At the finish, Wouter used his experience from last year to time his effort perfectly. Today was a solid win for the guys,” Tom Southam, Sports Director said.

A break jumped at 20km, as the riders came off the descent after the GPM. The gap got out to 4:10 and then the peloton went to work.

“Bernie chased the break down with Darren helping him. Our team is working well together and it showed today. Travis brought me in the top 10 as planned in the last corner and i waited patiently and finished the great team work off,” Wippert said.

Ioannis Tamouridis (SYNERGY BAKU CYCLING PROJECT) was second with Mirsamad Poursetedigolakhour (TABRIZ PETROCHEMICAL TEAM) in third.

Stage 4 features a climb to 2600meters, with a pitch from 35km to the finish. The 109km stage should challenge the riders and showcase the climbers.
