La VUELTA’19: Teams Presentation Photo and Video Gallery

PeloPics: The 2019 Vuelta a España presented the competing teams on Thursday in front of a large multi-national crowd in the Spanish resort town of Moraira. The opening event was shown on live TV with all the razzmatazz of a Grand Tour, PEZman Alastair Hamilton was there to take in the fun.

Estaban Chaves was his usual happy self: “We don’t have individual goals with Mitchelton-Scott, but a collective one: to fight for stage wins”

All very nice, but the start town with the accreditations and press room was 150 kilometres away in Torrevieja. Not to worry, a job had to be done.

Fuglsang was chatty and looking to make amends for his Tour de France bad luck

Before the presentation there were interviews with the main riders of this years Spanish Grand Tour.

World champion Alejandro Valverde is always keen: “He is the leader (Quintana) and I’ll try to stay in contention too”

Nairo Quintana riding his last Grand Tour for Movistar: “It would be the greatest pride to win La Vuelta and have a Latin American party”.

‘Superman’ Lopez will be wanting to repeat his podium place of 2018, or go top? “My goal is the same as it is in every race, I want to do a bit better than the previous time and keep growing”

Roglic will have learnt a few lessons from the Giro d’Italia, “I want to win”
