The Break Does It In San Juan!

PeloPic: Roman Villalovos (Canel’s-Specialized) out-sprinted his break-away companions; Ricardo Escuela (A.C.A. Virgen De Fatima) and Tiesj Benoot (Lotto Soudal) for the stage win and overall lead at the end of stage 2 of the Vuelta a San Juan next to the Lago Punta Negra.

The three riders escaped in the final kilometers as the peloton tried to chase them down. Benoot put in a strong effort to hold the chasers at bay, which worked, but Villalobos jumped perfectly to pass Bennot before the line with Escuela on his wheel. The chasers made contact on the line for the same time as the break.
