PEZ Rides the Carpegna Climb

Pez rides the Carpegna climb – the favorite of Marco Pantani – with the bike Hotel Lungomare in Cesenatico Italy.

The climb from the town of Carpegna has become famous because Marco Pantani used to train here.  The climb is now actually over-done with Pantani memorabilia of varying quality (most of it questionable), as someone’s trying to cash in on Marco’s legacy.  You can even rent a timing chip and record your time electronically to join the madness.  But put the crass trash aside and strap yourself in for one steep and unrelenting grunt of the 7km, 22 switchbacked climb that averages over 11% grade.
