What's Cool In Road Cycling

Readers’ Rigs: Evo Devo

Today’s Readers’ Rig comes from our youngest ever submitter with a very sweet custom carbon Evo Devo bike with SRAM Red. Not bad for an aspiring eleven year old racer!

Name: Keren Bennett
Age: 11
Location: Lenoir, North Carolina USA
Bike: Custom carbon Evo Devo with custom paint job
Groupset: SRAM Red gruppo, SRAM Force crank with Thorne chainrings 44/34
Wheels: Boyd Altamonts set up tubeless with Hutchinson Fusion 3
Pedals: Shimano MTB spds so I can use the one pair of shoes for CX, XC, and Road
Saddle: Specialized Toupe
Weight: sub 15 lbs (6.8kg) with pedals

When did you buy the bike?
I got it in early fall 2015 and it’s full custom geometry because of my size.

Any mods or additions done?
No, because it was custom everything is made just for me – including the custom paint job!

What components are you running?
The groupset is all SRAM Red except for the cranks which are SRAM Force.

How many miles/km do you do on your rig?
At 11 years old I’m putting in about 300-400 miles per month (480 – 640km).

At 11 years old Keren’s Specialized Toupe saddle sees some good miles!

What do you love about your bike?
I love it because it’s completely unique and truly the only one in the world like it. The geometry fits perfectly and it’s uber light compared to what I’ve ridden in the past.

Favorite riding area?
Definitely the Wilson Creek area of the Pisgah Forest in western North Carolina.

Favorite riding experience on your rig?
At the Road Nationals in Lake Tahoe when I got to do a warm up ride with my coach, Allison Arensman, reigning U23 national crit champ, and now newly crowned junior double world champion Chloe Dygart!

Any future upgrades?
Maybe moving to tubulars once the road season starts.

Keren’s tubeless setup might change to tubulars soon…
