Retro Readers’ Rigs: Colnago Tecnos
Retro Reader’s Rig: Back in the 1990’s Colnago was the dream of many cyclists and it was certainly the case for today’s reader, Peter from the UK. Peter actually bought his rare Tecnos frame back in that era and has lovingly cared for it ever since.

When did you buy it?
I bought the frame new about twenty years ago.
What made you choose this bike?
It’s beautiful and rare! Very few of the tecnos models were ever imported to the UK.
What modifications/additions have you done?
I’ve actually had it repainted three times over the years of ownership by C&G finished in Liverpool to my own bespoke, custom designs.
What components are you running?
I use Campagnolo with a triple chainring and it’s a mix of Chorus and Record.
How many miles/kilometers do you do a year?
I do around 4500 miles per year on my bike. (7200 km)
What do you love about this bike?
The look obviously and it’s rarity. It constantly gets attention from other cyclists.
Favorite riding area?
West Lancanshire/North Wales.
Favorite riding experience on your bike?
The simple pleasure of riding with my long standing local friends.
I have absolutely no desire to change anything. I may have another repaint in a few years time though….
Bikes are pretty much all dull and black nowadays – so drab! I miss the days when everything was shiny and bright and all bikes glinted and flashed in the sun just like my Colnago does!
