Floyd Landis: The Almost Tour Legend

On stage 17 of the 2006 Tour de France American Floyd Landis wrote his own chapter in Legends of the Tour. Four days later they ripped the pages out. Landis went from cycling super-hero to villain so fast, he experienced vertigo. One moment the Phonak rider was rolling down the Champs Elysees, flag in hand, the next he was facing a firing squad of journalists, and looking shocked, bitter, and angry.

TdeG St.5 – Danielson Doubles, Floyd First

American star Floyd Landis/Phonak providing a resounding confirmation of his Tour de France contender status as he easily defended his four-second overall lead throughout today's Stage Five, the most difficult of this year's Ford Tour de Georgia. Tom Danielson duplicated his win of 2005, but was not able to distance the Floyd.

TdeG St.4 – Fast Freddie Strikes Gold

After two close calls in two days, sprinter Fred Rodriguez nailed down the Tour de Georgia's third stage with a well-timed sprint after a mountainous 119 mile race from Dalton, GA to the finish in Dahlonega. While Fast Freddie got the stage and tightened his grip on the sprint competition, team tactics were the rule of the day.
