Belgium, or more precisely Flanders, in the third weekend in November is the place to be, a mecca for winter cycling fans. With the Gent '6 Day' and two top cyclo-cross races it's the centre of the universe. Ed Hood is usually working in the bowels of the velodrome, but this year he was there just for the fun.
The cirque du Six Days was in Gent for the 74th running of this 'race to nowhere', and PEZ was right there in the middle of it... Ed Hood takes us inside the boards for a unique look at Cav's almost win, rising star Jasper de Buysts convincing win, and everything in between.
PEZ's Ed Hood spent the weekend in Belgium - taking in the best of winter cycling at the Gent Six Days & the Kokside Cross races. Click in for a trackside photo report of the boards, the bikes and the boys who pedal through anything - including axle deep sand.
Nov 28, 2013 - As usual we have a full EuroTrash Thursday with news from all over the cycling World. Catch up with the Gent 6 and what Peter Sagan, Alberto Contador and Tom Boonen have been up to, plus team and race news for next year. We also take a look at the continuing problems of Alessandro Ballan. OK, EuroTrash coffee time!
The 70th edition of the Six-Days of Flanders, Ghent (Zes-Daagse Van Vlaanderen, Gent) begins in the East Flanders medieval city on Tuesday night. The crowds will once again flock through the doors, the beer will flow and the music will pump as the annual winter cycling fest begins. When the gun sounds, the pedals will turn and the wheels spin as 26 riders begin another race to nowhere.
