The curtain rises in March on the Italian Riviera with La Primavera, Milan - San Remo, and it slides back down with the leaves in October at the Tour of Lombardy. The Giro di Lombardia is a "Monument", one of five historic races which form the very soul of the sport. La Primavera and Lombardia plus Paris - Roubaix, the Tour of Flanders and Liege - Bastogne - Liege are the holy quintet.
